Fluentgrid’s Utility Product Suite on cloud for UPPCL, among the three finalists for the DCD Global Awards 2018

Fluentgrid’s client Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) was shortlisted as a finalist and is among the top three final contenders in the category: Cloud Migration of the Year, for the prestigious Data Center Dynamics (DCD) Global Awards 2018 to be given away on December 6, 2018 at Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. The other two finalists apart from UPPCL were American Express and Shanghai Government in collaboration with Huawei. Earlier in the year, UPPCL project was declared the winner in the India and Asia Pacific rounds of the DCD Awards, before reaching the global finals.

UPPCL was a strong contender for the global awards as it met various key criteria as an organization that demonstrated an innovative or pioneering approach to cloud adoption. Other criteria of the award were successful migration from a traditional data center environment while meeting business objectives and corporate requirements within critical parameters such as risk, availability, and security. Fluentgrid’s implementation helped UPPCL excel across these criteria.

Fluentgrid implemented its smart utility suite comprising CIS, CRM, RPS, MWM and BI products on the cloud for UPPCL’s four DISCOMs – DVVNL, MVVNL, PVVNL, and PuVVNL. The project set a utility cloud implementation benchmark by covering nearly 12.5 million consumers within a record completion schedule of 6-9 months for a project of this size and complexity. The consumer count has now gone up to 17.2 million consumers.

UPPCL is one of India’s largest transmission and distribution utilities providing electricity to more than 20 million consumers with an annual connected load of 35 GW and energy sales of about 55,000 MU.

The DCD Global Awards is a coveted international stage for an exclusive league of innovators from Europe, the US, APAC, Latin America and Africa, with categories spanning service providers, large data centers and enterprises. DCD Awards are regarded as the Oscars of the data center industry.

Mr. Murali Krishna Gannamani, Managing Director and CEO of Fluentgrid and other Senior Management members were jubilant learning of this notable achievement. They appreciated the good work by the Fluentgrid project team while congratulating the UPPCL management for making it to be one among the three finalists of the DCD Global Awards 2018.
