An interactive luncheon meeting was hosted by Fluentgrid in honour of the US Consul General – Ms.Katherine B. Hadda and her team comprising of Mr.Donald F Mulligan – US Consular Chief, Mr.Geoffrey Chin – Political and Economic Associate and Ms.Annette D’Silva -U.S.Commercial Assistant, during their visit to Visakhkapatnam on the 28th July 2017 at Varun Beach Novotel.

Mr.Murali Krishna Gannamani, MD & CEO, Fluentgrid Ltd. welcomed all the guests and gave a brief of the historical background of the beautiful city of Visakhapatnam and how it has transformed from a small fisherman’s village to emerging as one of the major industrial hub with major Public Sector Undertakings, having a strategic naval base and is now the IT destination for the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh which is presently ranked No-1 state in “Ease of Doing Business”. He said that Visakhapatnam, endowed with it’s natural beauty, is becoming a major tourist destination. In light of the above and the huge local talent pool, the region looks forward to huge investments from US companies in different sectors for a mutually rewarding and long term association.

Ms.Katherine B. Hadda, US Consul General, Hyderabad thanked all the leaders for coming and thanked Fluentgrid for hosting the luncheon meeting. She mentioned that her meeting with the Visakhapatnam Port Chairman was good and that the Chairman is open to exploring better technological solutions from US for controlling the dust pollution in the Vizag port zone. She appreciated the beauty of Vizag and mentioned that Vizag seems to show promise in many industries and that US Consulate at Hyderabad will help companies and introduce wherever possible to any investment and partnership opportunities across different sectors. She encouraged the industry leaders to communicate with the US Consulate on any issues faced or any help required. Ms.Katherine also mentioned that the US Government through US Trade and Development Agency(USTDA) is funding for drawing up the master plan for three smart cities in India and that includes Visakhapatnam and for which a consortium of three US Companies was formed i.e. AECOM, KPMG and IBM. She answered few questions from some industry leaders and all the team members interacted with the industry leaders during lunch.

IBM Global Entrepreneur Program has launched their second edition of B2B Startup Challenge called IBM GEP SmartCamp India headed by Radhesh Kanumury, Country Lead, Global Entrepreneur Program, IBM India Pvt. Ltd.

IBM Smartcamp for Vizag was conducted on 24th October 2015 at the Startup Village located at Rushikonda IT Hills.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Murali Krishna Gannamani – Managing Director & CEO, Phoenix IT Solutions Ltd. – congratulated the three winners: Siddha Development Research and Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., Unihalt Services, STECH ID Solutions Pvt. Ltd. He said it was great to see IBM Global Entrepreneur Program’s B2B StartUp Challenge happening in Vizag first time and thanked them for the opportunity to see some great ideas in action. Such activities will help in fuelling the entrepreneurial spirit in the region. He appreciated IBM for encouraging and hand holding the startups, introducing them to successful entrepreneurs and venture capitalists and at the same time recognizing their innovative work. This will certainly boost the morale of many students and budding entrepreneurs from Visakhapatnam and adjoining districts and give the much needed impetus to making Visakhapatnam as an IT and StartUp destination of choice.

Last year 30 B2B Startups were picked pan India and got them to pitch before VCs and IBM Execs. They also showcased their application to IBM Sales and got the winners press coverage. They also presented in the closing ceremony in front of an audience of 250+ entrepreneurs and select VCs. Last year winners got benefited by getting customer leads, funding and recognition. Many of them established synergies with different IBM groups as well.

Phoenix CEO among Indian entrepreneurs meeting President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

A high level meeting was organized by ASSOCHAM International between the Indian Companies doing business with Afghanistan and H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for better insight of the existing business and to look at opportunities to further the business between the two countries showcasing the investment landscape in Afghanistan.

Phoenix IT Solutions had successfully executed USAID funded Kabul Electricity State Improvement Program(KESIP) in the year 2011 and is presently working in Afghanistan on various USAID sponsored projects under the Electricity Commercialization Program to Transform Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the national Power Utility, in Capacity development through process strengthening and technology and best practices adoption for efficiency improvement and reduction of the technical and commercial losses.

India Afghanistan bilateral trade stands at US $ 683 Million in the year 2013-14, majorly comprising of India’s Exports to Afghanistan, i.e., US $ 474 Million. The opportunities exist in the area of Mining, Power transmission lines, Road construction, Infrastructure, Pharmaceutical, Agriculture, Financial Services, Telecommunications, IT, Education and Healthcare, which have also been identified as the priority areas by the  Afghan Government.

This visit of the President of Afghanistan is seen as the start of the new era of enhanced bilateral engagement between India and Afghanistan, by both the Governments hence the importance of the event.

Speaking on the occasion Mr.MuraliKrishna Gannamani, MD & CEO of Phoenix IT Solutions said that it was very satisfying to meet H.E. Phoenix IT Solutions from Visakhapatnam participated in the Annual ITsAP Cricket Championship held in Infosys ground, Hyderabad in February 2014 and reached the finals by beating a formidable HSBC team in the Semi-finals.

The finals was played on 1st June 2014 between Phoenix IT Solutions and Deloitte who earlier beat Infosys in the Semi-finals. Batting first Phoenix IT Solutions scored 213 runs for the sake of five wickets in 20 Overs. Deloitte could garner only 203 runs losing 8 wickets. Phoenix Cricket Team Won all the matches right from the start go.

This is the first time that Phoenix IT Solutions has Won the ITsAP Cricket Championship in it’s second appearance. Phoenix IT Solutions has made amazing records in this year’s ITsAP cricket championship at Hyderabad. Notable amongst them are:

  • Highest ever team score by any team – 357 runs in 20 Overs
  • Highest ever individual score by any individual – 197 in a innings

Earlier this year Phoenix IT Solutions also became the VITA Cricket Champions. Speaking on the occasion Mr.MuraliKrishna Gannamani, CEO & Managing Director, Phoenix IT Solutions Ltd. expressed happiness and said that this is a very proud moment for all Phoenicians, that a team from Seemandhra could beat some of the major & many times champion teams in Hyderabad and come out victorious in the last such tournament played in United Andhra Pradesh.

Mr.Kyle Nunas – Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner (South India), Canadian Trade Services and Mr.Vikram Jain – Trade Commissioner (Hyderabad-A.P.), Canadian Trade Services visited Phoenix IT Solutions to know more about Phoenix IT Solutions and to understand the potential Investment and Partnership opportunities with Canadian firms to deliver solutions in global markets.

After a presentation on Phoenix’s capabilities and mPower™ Suite of products, Mr.Kyle appreciated Phoenix’s contribution to the Utilities sector with a strong portfolio of solutions and services that can transform utilities worldwide. He visited the Smart Grid/AMI research lab and praised the good integration of technologies with mPower™ modules, especially the Solar Power generation, Home Automation simulations, and the various Smart Meters being tested through Power line, Wireless and GPRS communication technologies.

Mr.Kyle said that Canadian companies are also looking for potential partners and investment opportunities in India as there are already some Canadian companies who have started operations in Hyderabad and Bangalore and that Vizag has tremendous potential going forward. He said he is happy to help companies prepare for international markets, find qualified contacts and help in opening an office in Canada.

Phoenix IT Solutions Ltd. as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, have sponsored 50 solar lanterns to Guggudu village located in Araku valley, Visakhapatnam District in association with Sanskriti (NDTV Greenathon Project) for TERI’s Lighting a Billion Lives Campaign.

The inauguration of this event was done by Mrs.Vani Gannamani, Director, Phoenix IT Solutions Ltd. on 9th July in the presence of TERI – South India Coordinator, Mr.VVKBN Murthy, Mr.Winston Adams, AVP-Corporate Affairs, Sanskriti and VIKASA team members. The people expressed their happiness on receiving these solar lanterns as this would replace the kerosene lamps which had insufficient lighting, was polluting and had a cost burden. The solar lanterns once charged can provide upto 15 hours of lighting. TERI through their local representative has provided proper training to the villagers to operate the charging station and to take care of the solar lanterns. As per TERI – each solar lantern in its life of 10 years replaces about 500-600 litres of kerosene mitigating about 1.5 tonnes of CO2 and adopting this clean and affordable energy is elementary to one’s quality of life as well as for ensuring socio-economic development.

Speaking on the occasion Phoenix IT Solutions, Director- Mrs.Vani said that this is the first time Phoenix IT Solutions has taken this initiative in Araku valley and we hope that it greatly benefits the people of this village and enlighten their lives.

1st June 2013 was an eventful day in the history of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone(VSEZ) based IT and ITES companies with the visit of Dr.Killi Kruparani, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology, Govt. of India to STPI first, located at VSEZ followed by few IT & ITES companies in SDF-1 & SDF-2 and finally to VSEZ Admin building. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Praveen Prakash,IAS and Mr.Kishore, IAS Development Commissioner, VSEZ and Mr.Venugopal Director, STPI and other dignitaries from IT&C department, STPI, VSEZ and from different IT & ITES companies.

The Minister understood the different types of work that the companies do and during her visit to Phoenix IT Solutions, she has paid attention in knowing the Initiatives and valuable contribution of Phoenix to the Utility sector .She has spent quality time in the Smart Grid(AMI) Lab and appreciated the efforts made by Phoenix in developing innovative products –smart meter based intelligent pre paid metering system , big data analytics and Home automation simulations through different technologies -Power line, Wi-Fi and GPRS with integration to other mPower™ modules and supporting the power utilities in India and abroad.

Mr.Praveen Prakash, IAS was appreciative of the facility being so well maintained and providing a good working environment.

Development Commissioner –VSEZ, Mr.Kishore, IAS also appreciated the efforts put in by Phoenix IT Solutions for providing employment to engineers and boosting exports.

The presentation given to Dr.Killi Kruparani by VSEZ officials at VSEZ Admin building was the plan to construct a world class IT Tower in VSEZ exclusively for IT & ITES companies and to encourage bigger IT & ITES players to set up shop at VSEZ. The facility can also be occupied by local IT & ITES companies. This will not only generate more employment but also retain some of the best talents who migrate to bigger cities for want of employment.
