A high level meeting was organized by ASSOCHAM International between the Indian Companies doing business with Afghanistan and H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for better insight of the existing business and to look at opportunities to further the business between the two countries showcasing the investment landscape in Afghanistan.

Phoenix IT Solutions had successfully executed USAID funded Kabul Electricity State Improvement Program(KESIP) in the year 2011 and is presently working in Afghanistan on various USAID sponsored projects under the Electricity Commercialization Program to Transform Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the national Power Utility, in Capacity development through process strengthening and technology and best practices adoption for efficiency improvement and reduction of the technical and commercial losses.

India Afghanistan bilateral trade stands at US $ 683 Million in the year 2013-14, majorly comprising of India’s Exports to Afghanistan, i.e., US $ 474 Million. The opportunities exist in the area of Mining, Power transmission lines, Road construction, Infrastructure, Pharmaceutical, Agriculture, Financial Services, Telecommunications, IT, Education and Healthcare, which have also been identified as the priority areas by the  Afghan Government.

This visit of the President of Afghanistan is seen as the start of the new era of enhanced bilateral engagement between India and Afghanistan, by both the Governments hence the importance of the event.

Speaking on the occasion Mr.MuraliKrishna Gannamani, MD & CEO of Phoenix IT Solutions said that it was very satisfying to meet H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and update him on the present projects that Phoenix is implementing with DABS and also expressed his happiness of the Presidents enormous knowledge on the subject, his interest on details and his focus on developing business between the two countries.
